One of the most useful pieces of kit of the Permanent Way team’s disposal is their road-rail dumper, which they have nicknamed ‘Daisy’. Daisy came to us in 2011, and it’s hard to imagine where we’d be without it! For many years Daisy has performed all sorts of tasks, from ballasting to hauling rails and transporting crews in the days before we got our Bruff.
The accompanying trailer covers most of the track team’s day-to-day needs when it comes to transporting bigger items, and the two have been involved in almost every track project, no matter how major or minor, since their arrival. Originally used by Hydrex Rail, Daisy had to be re-gauged from 4’8.5” to 5’3” for its new career in Ireland.
