Enjoy a relaxing journey, travelling in one of our comfortable 1950s carriages to Inch Abbey by steam train and then board our buffet carriage to enjoy a mouthwatering selection of freshly handmade sandwiches, luxury homemade scones with jam & cream and mini French patisseries. To drink there is a choice of luxury teas and coffees, a glass of prosecco or a soft drink

We’re running this in association with Mange Tout, well-known in Downpatrick for their high quality food for events and also artisan markets and food providers.

Our next Afternoon Tea event is running on Sunday, 1st September at 1:45pm.

What happens during my visit?

Your train departs from Downpatrick station at 1:45pm, so you will have some time before that to look around the station, museum and carriage gallery if you wish.

Travel on our steam train with 1950s vintage carriages to our Inch Abbey Station. You will get off the train and be directed to your reserved table(s) in our buffet train, where you will be served with your food and drinks. Our volunteers are on hand to look after you.

Toilet facilities are available at our Inch Abbey station but these are not accessible. Full accessible toilets are available at our Downpatrick station.

If you or anyone in your party uses a wheelchair, please contact us to let us know so we can allocate appropriate seats in our buffet train.

The steam train and buffet train are all fully wheelchair accessible. Please see this page for more details.
