Built by CIÉ at Inchicore Works in the 1970s,  27427 is a 22ft container flat wagon. It spent its working life carrying standard ISO containers and also crates of kegs from both Guinness and the Harp brewery in Dundalk. Iarnród Éireann withdrew its four-wheel wagons from service over the course of the 2000s. However, 27427, along with 27350, managed to survive in the yard at Enfield on the Dublin-Sligo line.

After years of being almost forgotten about, they were purchased for preservation in the 2010s. Their new owner kindly donated them to our railway, where they arrived in 2026. No.27427 touched down on DCDR rails on 8th July that year.
