All in an afternoon: AGMs, bananas and fast food

We held our Annual General Meeting in The Saint Patrick Centre on Saturday. This included all the usual business of reports, financial updates, directors being re-elected followed by a lively Q&A once the formal business was completed.

It’s a great opportunity for volunteers and other members to consider the railway’s progress as a business. After all, we are a limited company and registered charity, which makes the whole thing very serious indeed. It is important that the members are able to hold the Board to account, while remembering the Board are all volunteers too.

With the Q&A out of the way, we had a special award for volunteer achievement in 2025. This went to Christopher McCausland for his tireless efforts with Health & Safety and Compliance initiatives. This was the inaugural Vice-Chairman’s Golden Banana – no expense spared!

We are very fortunate to have a good relationship with The Saint Patrick’s Centre. As well as housing the tourist office, a St Patrick exhibition, gift shop and café, it’s also very useful for us to hold meetings and presentations in a much nicer venue than a draughty shed or carriage at the railway.

Meeting over, some of the team decanted to Ralph’s across the road for a fast food treat. We really love supporting local businesses, especially when the food is so good.
