Have you been watching Crookhaven this week? If you have, you may have noticed a familiar looking station in the first five minutes of Episode 1…
Our very own Loop Platform serves as Moorheart Station, a mysterious halt in the middle of nowhere surrounded on all sides by trees and shrubbery. It was the perfect casting choice, really. The Loop Platform is already secluded from the town. Thus, little was needed in the way of set dressing to make it look suitably isolated and secretive. We did ask if they wanted the weeds cut back – the poor Loop Platform is a bit overgrown after a period of temporary disuse. However, they insisted on keeping them as it saved them on set dressing!
Filming took place back in July last year. Our 450 Class railcar added yet another acting role to its growing repertoire. Driver Ian was tasked with a few speedy departures from the platform. He was assisted by his guard Chris with DCDR Operations Manager Morgan coordinating between train crew and production staff. All went so smoothly that the railcar was ‘wrapped’ before lunchtime allowing some quieter dialogue scenes to be filmed – much easier without a thumping great diesel engine ticking over out of frame.
>This contract marked our return to filming work following the flood, and as we would find out it was the first of multiple. More on that later though, as we’re still waiting for the next one to air!
