Bubble bath?

A vice-chairman’s work is never done…

You may think that such high office in a railway organisation means it’s all meetings and traybakes and awards ceremonies. That’s definitely not the case for our vice-chairman Mike.

With public trains just around the corner, thoughts turned to making the station presentable. The recently-arrived cement bubble wagon was looking just a bit the worse for wear. It was covered with grime and green slime from its life in storage. Indeed, looked a bit of an eyesore for anyone standing on our platform waiting for their train.

Stuck in a location with no easy access for a pressure washer, Mike got a good workout with the high-clean brush and detergent. He spent a good couple of hours scrubbing at the body of the wagon, with pretty good results. These wagons were rarely this clean in service!

There’s still more work to do, including trying to address the rust stains from the walkway. Thanks to our generous supporters, some leftover funds from the campaign last year have meant we were able to purchase a hot pressure washer. We will use this for a final clean of the body and also the underframe. It will also be useful for helping with the rest of our fleet.

Mike may have had sore arms after this, but when he recovers he’ll still be grateful for all of our donators who made this project possible.
