Our signal cabin volunteers continue to work away on Bundoran Junction signal cabin as we get prepared to link it up to the points and signals around our yard.
Robin and Jim have spent the last several weeks fitting plates to the bottom of the lever frame. These will eventually be attached to rods and pulleys, allowing each lever to move a different set of points. Unfortunately, many of these components are rusty following the floods, so they each have to be ground down so they fit snugly in place. It’s a slow job for our volunteers – without them, we simply wouldn’t be able to keep our railway history alive.
Would you like to join our signal cabin volunteers? Do you want to meet new people, learn new skills, and leave your mark on our shared heritage? If so, we’re just the place for you – find out more about our volunteering opportunities here.
