DCDR Volunteer Shea McKee wins SERC Community Champion Award

Congratulations to Downpatrick & County Down Railway volunteer Shea McKee was crowned SERC Community Champion of the Year 2025 at the South Eastern Regional College Excellence Awards in their Downpatrick Campus on 10th April. A humble volunteer who tends to stay out of the limelight, Shea has been volunteering with the railway since 2022 and has immersed himself in a wide range of tasks, most recently our new siding project. He also worked hard during our flood recovery efforts, helping to bring back our railway from disaster.

Shea is, in the truest sense of the word, a champion of the local community.

Shea now becomes the third DCDR volunteer this year to be individually recognised for his achievements while also being our fifth award winner overall of our 40th Anniversary year.

Well done Shea, we are all very proud of you and we are blessed to have you as part of our team.
