Our St. Patrick’s weekend festivities kicked off on Saturday 15th March. While some of our volunteers were busy in the background shunting the yard prior to Monday’s Shamrock Express operations, the front of the station was also a hive of activity as we played host to the Downpatrick Lions Club and their ‘Coffee and Chrome’ rally in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice and NI Chest Heart and Stroke.
The ‘Coffee and Chrome’ rally involved a display of all types of interesting motor vehicles, old and new, from cars to tractors. There were certainly some eye-catching oldies among the vehicles gathered, including some vehicles our volunteers would rather wish weren’t considered ‘classic’ but time waits for nobody.
We look forward to collaborating with Downpatrick Lions Club on further gatherings in the future.
