Enjoy a journey in our ‘Derry Girls’ heritage diesel railcar to Inch Abbey before enjoying our special Christmas Afternoon Tea. We offer a mouth-watering selection of fresh handmade sandwiches, luxury home scones with jam & cream and some special Christmas treats. To drink there is a choice of teas and coffees, quality soft drink, and something alcoholic for the 18+ non-drivers in your group.
We’re running this in association with Mange Tout, well-known in Downpatrick for their high quality food for events and also artisan markets and food providers.
What happens during my visit?
Your train departs from Downpatrick station at 1pm, so you will have some time before that to look around the station, museum and carriage gallery if you wish.
You will travel on our train to Inch Abbey, where Afternoon Tea will be served. Our volunteers will guide you to your reserved tables on arrival.
If you or anyone in your party uses a wheelchair, please contact us for advice before you book. Our train has a dedicated space for wheelchairs, but due to limit space in our heritage train we can only accommodate one group with a wheelchair per time slot.

This event is running on Sunday 29th December 2024 with the train departing at 1pm (SOLD OUT) and 3:30pm (book now!)
Prices & tickets
- £40 per adult for tables of two
- £35 per adult for tables of three or four.
- Children can be added at £20 each.
This includes the train journey, and access to the museum, carriage gallery and other areas of the railway.
You can buy tables for:
- Two adults

- Four adults
- Two adults + 1 child
- Two adults + 2 children
Special dietary requirements
Our caterer can accommodate most dietary requirements. You can specify these by adding details in the Comments field on the main checkout page (where you enter your name and address etc – it’s near the bottom).
You can also contact us after you have made your booking to add any details, but please try to get these in at least 48 hours in advance.
Other requests
If you and friends or family are making separate bookings but wish to sit together – that’s fine, but please contact us so we can reserve you adjacent tables.
You will always get your own table allocated, you never have to share with anyone from another party.
Places are limited and pre-booking is required. You can only book tickets online, and as our office is closed for Christmas, we can only take email enquiries.
