2026 Diesel Gala

The diesel locomotives are taking over the railway for a summer Saturday afternoon.

Date:

Saturday 29th August

Type of train:

Diesel (various locos and railcars)

Our annual diesel event returns for 2026 in its new summer timeslot,  the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend.

It would be hard to beat the 2025 diesel gala for surprises, but we are trying our best. The day will consist of:

  • Cab rides within the station limits to start with
  • Lineside run-past opportunities
  • Guided Trackside access for photographs during station stops
  • At least locos 146, 124, G617 and the 450 class railcar
  • Maybe one or two surprise extras depending on restoration progress on other locos and railcars
  • Cab ride experiences for randomly selected passengers
  • Multiple trips to and from Inch Abbey along our North Line (sorry, the South Line will be unavailable due to engineering work)

Unfortunately A39R is unavailable in 2026 due to repairs pending that will not be completed in time for the gala date.

More details will be added as we have them.
