Summer 2019

We’ve got a packed summer programme this year, with special events running throughout the summer as well as our regular steam train services.

On all the running days listed on this page, trains are running to our standard timetable between Downpatrick and Inch Abbey, and all the usual attractions of the railway are open for you to experience

Special events are being supported by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and for all of the family events normal fares apply for adults, concessions, families and kids aged 4+. Children aged under 4 will be charged at the same rate as over-4s on these days, but infants will still travel free of charge.

Sunday Afternoon Tea

Sunday 28th July

Event supported by

What better way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon than a steam train trip to your very own high class afternoon tea? We’re running this in association with Mange Tout, well-known in Downpatrick for their high quality food for events and also artisan markets and food providers.

Enjoy a relaxing journey, travelling in one of our comfortable 1950s carriages to Inch Abbey by steam train and then board our buffet carriage to enjoy a mouthwatering selection of freshly handmade sandwiches, luxury homemade scones with jam & cream and mini French patisseries. To drink there is a choice of luxury teas and coffees, a glass of Prosecco or a soft drink

Your train departs from Downpatrick station at 2:30pm, so you will have some time before that to look around the station, museum and carriage gallery if you wish.

Tickets are £25, and include the steam train journey.

Sorry -this event is sold out!

For those of you who just wish to travel on the trains as normal and don’t want to take part in afternoon tea, then this is still available.
