ITG Diesel Gala 2019

A day of diesel haulage to celebrate 30 years of the Irish Traction Group

Celebrate 30 years of the Irish Traction Group – and experience a unique collection of classic Irish diesel locomotives. A must for gricers, railfans, diesel nuts, railway enthusiasts and anyone who just likes big machines making their unique music.

The Irish Traction Group, supported by The Irish Railway Record Society, are running the first heritage diesel gala in Ireland for five years, with classic diesel locomotives lined up for an afternoon of entertainment for railway enthusiasts.

Date: Saturday 12th October

Trains running approx 11:30am – 4:00pm


Traction due to appear is:

  • B class 146
  • A class A39R
  • G class G617
  • C class C231 (subject to mechanical work being completed in time)

The DCDR’s 80 class railcar set, 69+80 will not be available for passenger use to continued work on repairs to the floor of the driving trailer. However, the 80 class will be appearing in a non passenger carrying carrying role, where the sight and sound of an 80 class can at least be appreciated from the outside before the official launch of the completed train next year.

Day rover fares are as follows –

£10/€12 for ITG/IRRS/DCDR members

£15/€17 for non-members

Tickets are only available to purchase at the door on arrival.
