Treat Mum to a scenic train journey through the rolling hills of the Quoile countryside and make Mother’s Day even more special with our First Class service with a luxury Afternoon Tea, topped off with a glass of bubbly.

This will be your own private railway for the day, as this service is exclusive to Mother’s Day guests. For this special service, you will board our lovingly restored carriages at our station in Downpatrick centre, which will be hauled by a vintage diesel engine on a journey through St Patrick’s country to Inch Abbey.

Once at Inch Abbey you will then change trains and board our buffet train, where mum and your party will be served a glass of Prosecco or your choice of drink at your tables, and where a mouthwatering selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes, pastries, scones awaits you, all freshly baked and prepared by MangeTout, the well-known Downpatrick artisan food producer.

Your afternoon tea table can seat two up to four people, or larger groups can be sat together. There will be no rush to finish your lunch, just sit back and enjoy the Inch Abbey countryside.

After your meal you are free to return to Downpatrick and have a look around the carriage gallery and museum before returning home if you wish.

The Mother’s Day train leaves Downpatrick station at 1pm, and you’ll not be hurried through the experience, as the final train home isn’t until 4pm.

Prices & tickets

Tickets are £35 per adult for tables of two, and £30 per adult for tables of three or four. This includes the train journey, access to the museum areas, and credit card and booking fees. Children can be added at £15 each.

If you and friends or family are making separate bookings but wish to sit together – that’s fine, but please contact us so we can reserve you adjacent tables.

You will always get your own table allocated, you never have to share with anyone from another party.
